Gold Rush Vinyl is looking for its next Maintenance Technician. This individual will help us create incredible records for independent musicians and record labels out of our Austin, Texas, factory by keeping machines and the facility running both safely and reliably.
Schedule: Full-time; 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday thru Friday
Reports to: Production Director
About the role
This is a hands-on role maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial machinery (hydraulic presses, steam generators, a water chillers, an air compressor, grinders, conveyors and more) as well as the general building systems. You’ll combine preventative maintenance with quick, methodical problem-solving to maximize uptime and product quality.
What you’ll do
- Troubleshoot and repair production equipment: diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and steam-related issues; replace/align components; return machines to service quickly and safely.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM): execute PM schedules, lubricate/adjust mechanisms, track parts usage, and document work to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Support utilities & facilities: basic boiler/steam, chilled-water/heat-exchangers, compressed air, process water, and general building maintenance.
- Partner with production to communicate status at shift hand-offs; work with operators on basic care.
- Maintain records for work orders, PM compliance, and downtime drivers to inform continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring
- Experience: Work as a Maintenance Technician/Mechanic (ideally in packaging, plastics, printing, food & bev, automotive, or similar). Vinyl record pressing experience is a plus but not required—mechanical aptitude and initiative are key.
- Skills: strong mechanical troubleshooting; working knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics; ability to safely work around 3-phase power.
- Tools/reading: comfortable with micrometers, dial indicators, multimeters, hydraulic gauges; can read schematics/prints.
- Soft skills: clear communicator, calm under pressure, organized with parts and paperwork, collaborative with operators, willingness to jump in and help.
Physical & work environment
- Stand/walk for extended periods; bend, reach, climb ladders; lift up to 75 lbs.
- Work around hot surfaces, steam, equipment, and industrial noise.
